Iran and Surrounding Regions – Advisory and Travel Insurance Customer Care
On February 28th 2026, the USA and Israel launched strategic missile attacks on political and military sites in Iran. This was met with retaliatory strikes by Iran at Israel and USA bases across the region, including Israel, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and UAE.
As the situation in Iran and the surrounding region continues to escalate, we sincerely hope that you and your traveling companions are safe and unaffected by the ongoing unrest.
The majority of our policies contain a specific general exclusion relating to acts of war, therefore cover on our policies will be limited as this exclusion will apply in most circumstances.
We understand that you may have questions about how these events will affect the assistance and insurance coverage we provide.
Please find below some details:
If you are due to travel :
Several countries in the region have partially or fully closed their airspace, leading to significant disruption to international flights. Travelers may experience cancellations, diversions, or extended delays.
We strongly advise checking your flight status regularly and contacting the airline or travel supplier with whom you’ve booked your trip, for updates and available options.
If you are not able to travel due to the conflict, for example if the travel operator or carrier has cancelled the flight), you should contact your travel supplier for available options (such as a refund, rebooking or change of destination). If your travel supplier does not offer options for rescheduling, changing or refund, check the terms and conditions of your travel insurance policy and contact our team who will be able to help you: Allianz Customer Service Hotline at +852 2193 5875 (Mon – Fri, 09.00 – 17.30, excluding Public Holidays) or email to [email protected]
If you decide not to travel or to cancel your trip, your travel insurance policy will not cover costs incurred. If you have any questions, please refer to the details of your policy to check the cover provided or liaise with our customer team at +852 2193 5875 (Mon – Fri, 09.00 – 17.30, excluding Public Holidays) or email to [email protected]
If you are already travelling in affected countries:
If you are already traveling in affected areas, medical assistance remains available for unforeseen medical issues or accidents. Please refer to the contact details on your travel insurance policy for any medical assistance needs during this time.
We also recommend that you follow the advice issued by your local government or foreign office and follow local media reports for updates.
In case you shorten your trip due to the conflict, contact your airline or travel operator as they may provide accommodation until you are able to travel.
If your travel plans are disrupted, travel insurance coverage as indicated in the policy will be extended at no extra cost until you are able to return home. We advise you to carefully review the wording of your policy for details on the applicable coverage (such as medical assistance, lost luggage etc).
Our teams are committed to providing the highest level of support during these challenging times. As the situation is evolving quickly, we are monitoring it closely and working with experts in the affected countries to ensure that we can respond effectively to any changes and keep you informed.
